Derek Gape / Director
As INSITE’S Director, Derek is a leading expert in all aspects of construction management and development ranging from vertical and horizontal construction to mixed use development, luxury residential, and resort with golf and modern marinas. He guides clients effortlessly through due diligence, design engineering, cost evaluations, estimating, scheduling and purchasing. As a professional, he works closely with architects, engineers and designers to ensure that everyone is on the same page throughout the project. Prior to starting INSITE Derek worked for The Ginn Company on large development projects both in the Bahamas and US.
Born and raised in the Bahamas, Derek studied Mechanical Engineering at Polytechnic of Central London and graduated from the University of Florida with his Bachelor of Science in Building Construction in 1985. After finishing at UF Derek worked in Florida for a large custom home builder and built some of the largest homes in Sailfish Point. He was also involved in commercial projects throughout Florida to include schools, strip malls, medical facilities, libraries, and office buildings. Derek moved back to the Bahamas in 1994 to start a luxury home building company in Hope Town and brought a new level of professionalism to the existing market. In 2006 he was recruited by the Ginn Company to develop a master planned community encompassing 2100 acres for a development envisioned for a resorts, casinos, luxury residential homes, world class golf courses, modern marinas, high end shopping, and a private airport.
Derek lives in Grand Bahama with his wife and has four beautiful children. When he is not working he enjoys boating, conching, watching college football, and playing tennis. Derek is involved with the Grand Bahama Sailing Club and the Grand Bahama Tennis Association and is a very popular singer & musician on the island.
